PILGRIMAGES ORGANIZED BY US

Bicycle Pilgrimage to Rome

In 2002 the church community of Szentendre celebrated its 1000 years of existence. The parish organized many colorful events for this occasion. We, the youth of the parish, thought that we could ride our bikes from Szentendre to Rome: 1000years-1,000km. The task seemed a bit difficult at first, but as we started to organize it we found that it was possible to accomplish. It was 24 of us at our first journey, 18 bikers and 6 escorts.

We took the following rout:

Thanks to the good memories, the news of our journey spread quickly. Others wanted to come with us the next year, the brothers and sisters of the participants of our first journey. Thus we took the road for the second time in 2005. That was the year when Pope John Paul II died, so we offered our journey for his memory. 60 of us participated in this journey.

Our third journey was in 2008. This was the year of the Bible, thus we took a Bible with us in ornamented binding to the Vatican and handed it over to a deputy of the Pope. 60 youngsters participated in this journey as well. Our motto was "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

We organized our fourth journey to Rome in 2010 with the motto "Thank you". We started in Piliscsaba this time, not in Szentendre, because most of our team was from Piliscsaba. Our aim was to draw the youngsters' attention to the small things; to experience the strength of the people and the providence of God after leaving their comfortable every-day lives behind.

Walking pilgrimage from Csobanka to Esztergom

Our Foundation has been organizing a 50 km long nighttime walking pilgrim for youngsters from Csobanka to Esztergom since 2006, as a commemoration service of the anniversary of 23 October. About 200-250 youngsters join us for this journey each year. With this tour too, we are trying to show the youngsters how to make sacrifices for a community, for their mates, and together with their mates.

Pilgrimage at Pentecost

We organize a pilgrimage to Csiksomlyo each year at Pentecost. We, with a bus full of young people, join the others at the cross of Zetelak and from this point we walk about 50 km to Csiksomlyo. Then, we organize a tour to Harghita Mountain, to strengthen the experience of togetherness in the youngsters.
