Today, the operations of the BELA Foundation cohere with the operations of the Magyarfalu Foundation strongly.
The aim of the Foundation is to help the youth not only in a passive way, but also by organizing programs and events where they are involved as well and they can recharge.
In the previous years, helping the Hungarians living across the border and fostering the relationship with the Hungarians in Hungary has been emphasized greatly.
We organize a pilgrimage to Csiksomlyo each year at Pentecost. We, with a bus full of young people, join the others at the cross of Zetelak and from this point we walk about 50 km to Csiksomlyo.
In the summer of 2007 we presented the rock opera "Stephen the King", performing with 150 amateur high school and university students in Zetelaka for 4,000 - 5,000 people. The performance was free, but we raised donations during the performance for the orphanage of Transylvania.
We also organized a summer camp for 250 orphans of Transylvania at the same time.
We gathered orphans and underprivileged children from Transylvania, the southern part of Slovakia, the northern part of Serbia, the southern part of the Ukraine, and the Csango Land with the help of Peter Pazmany Catholic University Chaplaincy. Between the 4th and 10th August of 2008 the children attended our summer camp in Csobanka, Hungary. 300 children and 100 counselors attended the summer camp named "Alliance for Life".
Photographs were put out to tender with the same title for high school and university students. We organized the "Alliance for Life" summer camp in 2009 as well. It was a great pleasure for us that we were able to extend the number of participants to 500.
We organized a bicycle pilgrimage to Rome in 2008 with the support of our foundation. This journey took us 12 days on bicycles with 2 resting days. 60 youngsters accomplished this huge task of ours. The trip culminated in the Vatican, where we handed a Bible in ornamented binding over to a deputy of the Pope, as 2008 was the year of the Bible. University and gymnasium students presented "Somewhere in Europe" by Laszlo Des on 22 August, 2009 at 21pm in Szabadság square in Csikszereda, organized by the BELA Foundation.
This piece was presented in Hungary twice: on 8 November, 2009 in Biatorbagy and on 14 November, 2009 in Piliscsaba. It was our pleasure to present this piece in Csantaver, the northern part of Serbia, on 18 September, 2010.
Our Foundation has been organizing a 50 km long nighttime walking pilgrim for youngsters from Csobanka to Esztergom since 2006, as a commemoration service of the anniversary of 23 October. About 200-250 youngsters join us for this journey each year.
We invite Moldva Csangos and youngsters from Transylvania during Advent, who prepare some small shows, and present them at the Pazmany University to make our Christmas preparations more beautiful. The one week they spend with us help each of us learn more about their culture and get closer to them. It also gives them an enjoyable experience, so that they can return home charged up and prepare for their own holidays too.
Our Foundation also organizes the so-called "shoebox present" each year at Advent, when we ask Hungarian youngsters to wrap Christmas presents worth HUF1000-2000 in a shoebox. We take these 600-700 boxes of presents to Transylvania, the southern part of Ukraine, and Voivodina (the northern part of Serbia).
