Magyarfalu - where all started

Once upon a time (just like in a fairy tale), almost 10 years ago, I met a boy.
His name is Fabian Ghiurca and he comes from the settlement of Magyarfalu (Hungarian Village), the farthest east Csango settlement, and moved to Budapest.
We became friends. He took me to his home village, showed me everything he could, and told me everything he could.
This is how this foundation was born.

For the children, the children of Magyarfalu.

We did what we could: we took there donations, culture, Hungarian and Romanian press. We did everything we thought might help these children. First, we did it in chaos, later, after learning the lessons, more cleverly, with plans.
Thank Heaven, other help got there too. Csangos were able to study the Hungarian language again. First in that small room our Foundation rented for them, but later it was allowed in the elementary school as well. We started the god parent program, the children benefited from that too. They needed less help; however, we know help is never enough.
This was the point I started to think about how to move forward...

I realized the best would be to go back to the original purpose. What was that? To help the children of Magyarfalu. I realized the emphasis is not on the children of Magyarfalu, but on the children in general.

Then, the second encounter happened.

At that time the chaplain in Szentendre was Szűcs Balázs , and we quickly realized that we both thought the same about this. He particularly tried to help the orphanages of Transylvania; I tried to help the Csangos. We sat down to talk and we did not find anything contradictory in our thinking.

What is more, we have conceived our common purpose, to make the life of the orphans and the disadvantaged children of Transylvania better.

The BELA Foundation (Foundation of University Pastors of Budapest) and the Magyarfalu Foundation in cooperation have been focused on helping the Hungarian youth and orphans living across the border, as well as on their connection with the Hungarian youth living in Hungary for years.

We go to the southern part of the Ukraine, Transylvania and the northern part of Serbia. We take packages and we bring hundreds of children for summer camp to Csobanka. We address those children, who others do not, who are one in a million in their hometown.

We try to show them that they are all individuals, they might have difficulties at the beginning of their lives, but they do have a chance to have a better life.
We nourish this hope in them and we believe they can achieve this.
