"Stephen the king" rock opera

"Stephen the king" rock opera
The youngsters of vicarage of Szentendre, total of 100 people, performed "Stephen the king" Hungarian rock opera in the summer of 2005 on the saint's day on the hills of the church in Szentendre. The income of the show, 1 million forints, was donated to bishop Antal Majnek of Munkacs. After the performance we conceived the idea to take the show to Transylvania and to the west of the Ukraine to the Hungarians living there.
We performed the rock opera for the second time in Beregszasz in the Amphitheater on 15 July 2006. Our aim was to give these Hungarian people hope, encouragement and support. Our other aim was to make our youngsters feel that it is their duty to help their disadvantaged compatriots. We asked Antal Majnek bishop and Dr. Laszlo Solyom, president of the Hungarian republic, to be the patrons of the performance. We were able to donate 1.2 million forints to the orphanage of the settlement of Rát, which was under construction at that time, and which was able to start its operation after receiving the donation.
After the shows in Szentendre and Beregszasz, our next station was Transylvania. The peculiarity of this show was that we involved the orphans to take part in the performance; they played the part of the screaming crowd, the people of Stephen and Koppany.
We performed the rock opera on 14 July 2007 at 20 pm on a stage built on the bank of the reservoir in Zetelaka with 150 performers, including the orphans.
