"Igazgyongy" Foundation
"Igazgyongy" ("Pearl") Foundation, Berettyoujfalu

Our foundation operates in one of the 33 most disadvantaged sub regions of Hungary, near the eastern border of the country, in the sub region of Berettyoujfalu.
Our main operation field is talent management, personality development focused on disadvantaged children especially. The peculiarity of how the Igazgyongy Elementary Art School operates is that we teach art to 670 children from a total of 23 villages, 6 settlements of the sub region, 70% of whom are disadvantaged and 160 who are living in deep poverty.
The school became an internationally recognized workshop during its 11 years of operation, and our students bring home 450-500 awards from inland and international fine arts competitions.
Many Hungarian teachers from the country and from outside of the country are interested in the alternative methods we use to teach our children. We have extended international relationships even throughout Europe.
Our foundation started a special model development as well. We would like to make the opportunities of children living in deep poverty better, to give them a vision of the future, to compensate their disadvantages and to help their integration.
For the sake of the cause, social work is connected to the foundation; we try to help them in many ways, from averting crises to organizing excursions.
The third part of our work is organization development, which means developing community in the settlements, and developing cooperation for integration between institutions, thinking together. The success of our work is already recognizable. We would like to develop a model, which can be a help by its adaptable elements for other children living in deep poverty in other settlements too. We believe that through the children we can create a better, more livable world.
